[!info] This is the original writeup for the Chained Library from the Arcadia zine by MCDM.
The Chained Library is a new location with creatures, magic items, and stories. “If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, the Chained Library is a cataclysm lying in wait,” says Indratha Nevarre, an antiquarian and sage.
The Chained Library is a great fortress built into the black rock cliffs far from civilization. Spellbooks of liches and necromancers and ancient tomes of infernal secrets line the library’s prison-shelves, guarded by blind celestials. The library predates every known kingdom and even some of the younger gods.

These dungeon hallways are stalked by the monster from the catacombs (the Snatcher)
Each X marked on the map is a possible area where the monster can be encountered.
Each time a character can see an X, roll a d4:
On a 1, the monster is there, ready to chase the characters down.
From then on, the monster hunts the characters and does not appear on any other X’s.

The stairway down the catacombs is inside the church, and locked. Only Father Samael can open the door with his key. He locks the door behind them, and tells the characters to knock twice in patterns of four to let him know it is them.
As the party explores the catacombs, they are hunted by the Snatcher.
Each time a character goes down a corridor, roll a d4. On a 1 or 2, the monster appears at the opposite end and gives chase.
Deep within the enchanted embrace of the elven forest lies a simple cabin. As you venture closer, a sense of foreboding settles upon you, whispering warnings of the malevolent presence that resides within.
The cabin, nestled amidst a grove of ancient and gnarled trees, appears deceptively serene at first glance. Yet, a haunting realization takes hold as your gaze sweeps across the surroundings. Once bursting with life and color, the vibrant hues of the elven forest now give way to a desolate grayscale.
